Receive payments

Patients pay you online. The money goes straight to your bank.

Every invoice and statement carries a Pay now link. Your patients pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Capitec Pay or Instant EFT, the payment is recorded on the visit for you, and the money lands in your practice's account within 3 business days.

5% per payment, minimum R5. No monthly fee, no card machine.

Why it matters

The patient's share is the slowest money in a practice.

The medical aid decides, and the gap lands with the patient: a claim paid at scheme rate, a benefit that has run out, a code the plan does not cover, a private visit. It sits on a statement until someone phones. The Payments page shows what your patients owe from the last 90 days and why, and every line comes with a way to pay.

What you get

Online payment, built into the invoices you already send

Pay now on every invoice and statement

Switch it on once and a Pay now link, with its QR code, is added to the invoices and statements you already send.

The ways patients already pay

Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Capitec Pay or Instant EFT, from their phone, without signing in to anything.

Recorded on the visit for you

Each payment is recorded against the visit it pays, so the patient's account and your reports are right without anyone capturing it.

Straight to your bank account

Paystack, a licensed payment provider, settles each payment less the fee into your account within 3 business days. NetPractice never holds the money.

Copy a pay link when you need one

Chasing one patient? Copy a pay link from the claim or from the Payments page and send it however you normally would.

Verified before any money moves

You confirm who you are with your ID and a selfie, and your bank confirms the payout account is yours. If that account is ever replaced, payouts to the new one wait 48 hours.

Optional add-on

Revenue Assurance - we ask the patient for you. R199 a month.

The moment a medical aid says the patient owes - benefits used up, or paid at scheme rate - and for private visits still unpaid after the wait you choose, we send the patient a Pay now link in your practice's name, with up to two reminders until it is paid.

  • By SMS and, where you have the patient's email address, by email.
  • Never for a claim you need to fix, or one the medical aid is still assessing - those stay with you.
  • Messages carry your practice name, the amount and the link. Never a diagnosis or the medical aid's reason.
  • You choose which reasons apply, how long to wait and the channels used, and you can switch it off at any time.

Billed on your monthly NetPractice invoice from the month you switch it on, the first month in proportion to the days left. VAT included.

What a payment costs you

5% of each payment, minimum R5, including VAT and Paystack's processing charges. You only pay when a patient pays.

Patient pays Our fee Paid to your account
R60.00 R5.00 R55.00

How it works

Three steps, a few minutes

  1. Verify who you are

Your ID and a selfie, on your phone. About 2 minutes.

  2. Add your bank account

We confirm with your bank that the account is yours.

  3. Accept the agreement

Pay now links switch on for your invoices and statements.

Questions about receiving payments

Fees, payouts, refunds and what your patients see.

Does NetPractice hold my patients’ money?

No. Payments are processed by Paystack, a licensed payment provider, and settled directly into your practice’s verified bank account, less the fee. NetPractice never receives or holds the money.

What does it cost to let patients pay online?

5% of each payment, with a minimum of R5, including VAT. The fee includes Paystack’s processing charges. There is no monthly fee, set-up fee or card machine. Amounts under R10 are not offered for payment online. Revenue Assurance, the optional automatic requests, is R199 a month.

How quickly is the money paid out?

Within 3 business days of the payment. Business days exclude weekends and South African public holidays, so a payment made on a Saturday is counted from the Monday.

How can patients pay?

By card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Capitec Pay or Instant EFT. The patient opens the Pay now link on the invoice, statement or message and pays from their phone. The methods offered may change as Paystack adds or removes them.

What happens with a refund or a disputed payment?

Refunds go through our support team. A refunded or successfully disputed payment comes off your next payout. The fee on a refunded payment is not returned, because the payment has already been processed.

What do patients receive with Revenue Assurance?

A message from your practice by SMS and, where you have their email address, by email, with your practice name, the amount and the Pay now link, and up to two reminders. It never contains a diagnosis, the medical aid’s reason or any clinical information, and a patient can stop the messages at any time.

Who can switch it on?

The practice owner or a practice admin, from Payments in NetPractice. It is available to every practice on NetPractice. The terms are in the Payments Agreement you accept during set-up.
